TTF
TTF is the TrueType font format used by Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and most design and office apps. It stores glyph outlines as quadratic curves along with hinting instructions, kerning, OpenType features and font names. Many fonts you download, including the families on Google Fonts, come as TTF files.
WOFF2
WOFF2 (Web Open Font Format 2.0) is the W3C web-font format: a TrueType or OpenType font compressed with Brotli and font-specific transforms so it downloads faster. All current browsers load it through CSS @font-face, and it is the format Google Fonts serves to them.

Apple developed TrueType in the late 1980s and licensed it to Microsoft, and it became the font format of both Windows and the Mac. TTF uses quadratic curves and detailed hinting instructions that keep text sharp at small sizes on screen. Every desktop system, Office suite and design app installs it.
TARGET
The W3C published WOFF 2.0 in 2018. It wraps a TrueType or OpenType font with Brotli compression and font-specific transforms, typically making it 30% smaller than WOFF and far smaller than TTF. All current browsers load it, which is why Google Fonts and font services deliver WOFF2. Desktop systems can't install it directly.

Check the @font-face path and format('woff2'). A wrong path shows a 404 in the network tab.

Fonts from another domain need a CORS header on the server.

Fonts marked Restricted License (fsType 2) are refused by their makers' rules.

WOFF2 is for websites. Keep the TTF for desktop use.

Add font-display: swap and preload the main weight.
