HOW IT WORKS

Convert OGG to MP3 in three steps

Three steps, no account, nothing to install.

01

Upload the OGG file

Drag and drop your OGG files or select them from your device. Music, voice messages and Ogg videos are accepted.

02

Convert to MP3

Keep MP3 as the output and start. The audio is encoded as a VBR MP3, about 170-210 kbps for music.

03

Download the MP3

Save each MP3 when it is ready, or download several results together as a ZIP.

OGG

OGG is a free, open container format from Xiph.org. A .ogg file usually holds Vorbis audio, but it can also carry Opus (Telegram voice messages, for example), FLAC or Speex. It is common in games and Linux software, while many car stereos and older players cannot open it.

MP3

MP3 is a lossy compressed audio format built for small files and broad playback compatibility. It works on almost every phone, browser, car stereo, media player, and editing application.

FILE FORMATS

OGG and MP3 compared

SOURCE

OGG

An .ogg file is audio in Xiph.Org's open Ogg container, usually Vorbis and sometimes Opus or FLAC. Ogg Vorbis is royalty-free, so game engines such as Unity, Godot and RPG Maker, Minecraft resource packs and many open-source apps use it. Android, Chrome and Firefox play it; older iPhones and some car stereos don't.

TARGET

MP3

MPEG-1 Audio Layer III has been the universal music format since the 1990s. It compresses audio by removing sounds the ear is unlikely to hear, so a song takes a few megabytes instead of tens. ID3 tags carry the title, artist and album art, and every phone, browser, car stereo and editor plays it.

USE CASES

Use Cases for OGG to MP3

Practical workflows where OGG to MP3 conversion is useful.

logo

Save Telegram voice messages as MP3

Telegram saves voice messages as Opus audio in .ogg files. Convert the ones you want to keep so they play on devices that do not open .ogg.

logo

Play game soundtracks on your phone

Many games store music as .ogg files. Convert the tracks you own to MP3 for a phone, car or MP3 player playlist.

logo

Fill a USB stick for the car

Car stereos often skip .ogg files. MP3 copies of the same songs play from USB, with title and artist tags carried over.

logo

Keep a whole internet radio recording

Recordings of Ogg radio streams are often chained files with several parts. The whole recording becomes one MP3, tagged with the first part's details.

logo

Rescue old Speex voice recordings

Voice memos and call recordings saved as Speex in .ogg are hard to play today. The MP3 plays everywhere, and 8 kHz recordings are written at 16 kHz so every player accepts them.

logo

Use OGG audio in a slide deck or video edit

Some presentation and video editing apps do not import .ogg. An MP3 drops straight onto the slide or timeline.

logo

Keep chapters in long recordings

Ogg podcasts and lectures with chapters keep them as MP3 chapter marks, so apps that read MP3 chapters can jump between sections.

logo

Keep song titles readable on Windows

Titles in Hindi, Japanese, Greek or other scripts stay readable, because tags are written as ID3v2.3, the version Windows File Explorer shows.

logo

Make portable copies of Ogg FLAC albums

Ogg FLAC albums are large and not widely supported. MP3 copies fit far more music on a phone or older MP3 player.

logo

Get the sound out of an Ogg video

For an Ogg video, only the soundtrack is converted, so you get an MP3 of the audio without the picture.

SUPPORTED FILES

Which OGG Files Can I Convert?

Ogg files with all common audio codecs are supported.

Ogg Vorbis music

Songs, game music and Spotify-style Vorbis files.

Ogg Opus and Telegram voice messages

Voice messages saved as .ogg.

Ogg FLAC and Speex

Lossless Ogg albums and old Speex voice recordings.

Ogg videos

Only the soundtrack is converted.

Chained OGG

Radio recordings and joined files are converted in full.

TROUBLESHOOTING

MP3 Not Sounding Right?

These explain most surprises.

01

A voice message sounds muffled

Voice messages are recorded at low bitrates for speech. The MP3 keeps what was recorded.

02

Only the first audio track was used

If an OGG holds several audio tracks, the first one is converted.

03

The MP3 is shorter than expected

A damaged file is converted as far as it decodes.

04

Stereo Speex was refused

Stereo Speex that packs several frames per packet can't be converted.

05

It sounds slightly different

MP3 is lossy, so a little detail is removed. Keep the original file for editing or archiving.

06

Tags or cover art are missing

Only tags and artwork embedded in the file itself can be carried over. Add missing ones in your music app.
