WMA
WMA (Windows Media Audio) is Microsoft's compressed audio format, used by Windows Media Player for CD rips and by older music stores and voice recorders. It comes as standard WMA, WMA Pro, WMA Lossless and WMA Voice. Apple devices and many players do not play it.

Windows Media Audio arrived with Windows Media Player in 1999. Besides standard WMA there are WMA Pro, WMA Lossless and WMA Voice, all stored in Microsoft's ASF container. Older online music stores sold DRM-protected WMA. Macs, iPhones, many Android players and car stereos can't play it.
