WEM
WEM is the audio file format of Audiokinetic Wwise, the sound engine behind many PC and console games. Each .wem holds one sound, such as a music track, voice line or effect, encoded as Wwise Vorbis, PCM, ADPCM, Opus, AAC or XMA2, sometimes with loop points. Modders pull .wem files from game folders and sound banks, but regular media players can't open them.

WEM is the audio file of Audiokinetic Wwise, the middleware behind the sound of many PC and console games. A .wem can hold Wwise's own Vorbis variant, Opus, ADPCM, PCM, AAC or XMA2, often with loop points. Standard Ogg players can't read Wwise Vorbis, so .wem files need vgmstream or a converter.

Looping game music is rendered the way the game plays it: the looped section plays once more, then fades out over 10 seconds. A loop covering the whole track plays once.

Some games encrypt .wem files with their own key, which can't be supplied.

Header-only .wem files from a bad rip claim far more audio than they hold. Extract them again.

Wwise tags and markers aren't kept in the MP3.

The file is damaged, isn't really WEM audio, or was extracted with the wrong tool. Extract it again from the game files and retry.
