HOW IT WORKS

Convert TXT to PDF in three steps

Three steps, no account, nothing to install.

01

Upload your TXT files

Drag in .txt files from a notes app, a log folder, a transcript or a code project.

02

Convert to PDF

Start the conversion. LibreOffice lays out the text on pages, wraps long lines and exports a PDF.

03

Download the PDF

Download each PDF, or several together as one ZIP.

TXT

TXT is plain text with no formatting, readable by every device, editor and programming tool.

PDF

PDF is the universal fixed-layout document format that looks the same on every screen and printer.

FILE FORMATS

TXT and PDF compared

SOURCE

TXT

A TXT file holds only characters and line breaks: no fonts, bold, pages or images. That makes it the most portable format there is, used for notes, logs, README files, transcripts and exported data. The only thing that can go wrong is the character encoding, such as UTF-8 versus an older Windows code page.

TARGET

PDF

Adobe introduced the Portable Document Format in 1993, and it has been an open ISO standard since 2008. A PDF fixes text, fonts, images and vector graphics onto pages, so a document prints and displays exactly as intended on any device. It is the default for sharing, printing, signing and archiving.

SUPPORTED FILES

Which TXT Files Can I Convert?

Plain text files of any size are supported.

Notes and documents

Text from Notepad, TextEdit, notes apps and editors.

Logs and exports

Server logs, chat exports and data dumps.

UTF-8 and older encodings

Text with accented letters and non-Latin scripts.

Long lines

Lines longer than the page are wrapped.

A batch

Upload several text files and download the PDFs as a ZIP.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PDF Not Looking Right?

Plain text has no formatting, so a few things are worth knowing.

01

Some characters look wrong

The file may use an old code page instead of UTF-8. Save it as UTF-8 in your editor and convert again.

02

Columns don't line up

Text aligned with spaces only lines up perfectly in a monospaced font. Use tabs or a spreadsheet for tables.

03

Long lines wrap

Lines longer than the page width wrap onto the next line, so nothing is cut off.

04

There's no formatting

TXT has no bold, headings or images, so the PDF is plain text on pages.

05

A huge log made many pages

Very long files produce long PDFs. Trim the log to the relevant part first.

06

Still not working

Check the file is really text. Renamed binary files can't be laid out as text.
