Macromedia and later Adobe used Flash Video for web streaming in the 2000s, and early YouTube downloads, video lessons and game captures were FLV. The files hold Sorenson Spark, VP6 or H.264 video with MP3 or AAC sound. With Flash gone, browsers can't play FLV, though VLC still can.
TARGET
AMV is a stripped-down variant of AVI created for budget portable players, the kind often sold as MP4 players. It uses a simplified Motion JPEG for the picture and IMA ADPCM for sound, so tiny chips can decode it. Resolution and frame rate are low, typically 160x120 to 320x240 at 12 to 16 fps.
