MP3 Not Sounding Right?

Game audio works differently from normal music files, which explains most surprises.

The track repeats and fades out

Looping game music is rendered the way the game plays it: the looped section plays once more, then fades out over 10 seconds. A loop covering the whole track plays once.

It says the file can't be decoded

The file is damaged, isn't really AT9 audio, or was extracted with the wrong tool. Extract it again from the game files and retry.

Surround sound became stereo

MP3 holds two channels, so 5.1 and other multichannel audio is mixed to stereo. Convert to WAV to keep every channel.

A ripped file fails

Truncated rips fail instead of giving partial audio. Extract the file again.

PSP or PS3 audio isn't accepted

Those consoles use AT3. Use our AT3 to MP3 converter.

It sounds slightly different
